Raven

This is the process for creating the Raven painting.  This particular background I had finished last week, allowing some drying time and inspiration!  The raven is an important subject, not just to me but also my sister and my two daughters.  My father loved birds.  He especially enjoyed the raven or crow and felt there was a spiritual connection to him with these birds.  When he passed away,

suddenly we began experiencing encounters with ravens, really unusual behavior for these birds.  It still happens.  It is comforting but occasionally annoying as it feels like he is lecturing!  And it may just be our way of feeling like he is watching over us, kind of nice!  This painting will be heading out the door next week for sale but in the meantime, I’m going to sit back and enjoy it!

A New Happy Hanger

IMG_0210I started creating these little Happy Hangers several months ago.   The gallery asked me to create a few to sell and today I completed this one.  I have two more in the making as well. The words…”Embellish life…it makes it so much sweeter” finally came to me as the cupcake has a layer of sparkle of gold!  It’s hard to see it in the photo.

Hoping you take time to treat yourself to something special!

Hearts with Wings

IMG_6425This piece changed my thinking on perfection!!  I used several different textures of paper on the background.  When I began to paint the girl the papers absorbed the acrylics and watercolours, creating some imperfections.  I left it overnight and returned to work it over today.  After looking at it I realized I didn’t want to change it but rather felt like embracing imperfection…which is a stretch sometimes for me!  I’m feeling like my inner self is finally beginning to let go of some of the restrictions I place on myself.
