Pigs and Birds Can Fly!

This is a favorite piece completed last week.  Animals are a wonderful subject that I love to paint.  I painted several birds over the last few years but until now, only one little piggy.  That needed to change as I love pigs and this piece was so fun to merge both!  I knew I needed special words for this and If Pigs Could Fly was easy as it is so popular but the second set of words came to me in the middle of the night!  I know, crazy, huh!!  Enjoy your day and soar your way to new heights!copypig

Wishful Bird

This 11 x 14 original mixed-media piece is for sale at Salvage Designs.  Just finished it yesterday and ventured over to the shop for a visit today.  My sister was here and I wanted to introduce her to the gals at Salvage Designs.  She will be coming to spend a few days in April with me while I do my Mixed-media Workshop at Salvage Designs.   Wishful Birds created with layers of recycled papers, ribbon, acrylics, pen and a funky little bird charm on the upper left corner of the painting.

Don’t forget “Spring Forward” everyone!!

Have a great weekend…hoping spring is here soon.copyjarbird

Happy Hangers

Completing three Happy Hangers.  These three will be heading over to the gallery tomorrow for the Holiday Open House on Friday.  I waited until the last-minute and will be working this evening on the last touches of the other two.  Hope your evening is full of creativity.   I’ll enjoy finishing these pieces.

Thanks for visiting my blog.  Comments are always welcome!copy heartwing

Heart Hugs

Today I finished this piece, Heart Hugs.  Several months ago I had done a piece with a flower grouping.  Never, never liked it.  I came across that piece over the weekend.  Covering it with gesso and starting over, this is the result.  So much happier with it.  I’ve found in the past that people love art with hearts.  Since the holidays are approaching I’m planning to create a few more heart pieces.

Weeeeeeee

Finished the second of my 2013 Snowman Collection.  My more playful side coming out in this piece.  Loving life today!  These pieces I hope to place in the two local galleries for the upcoming holiday season.  Off to the studio to continue creating!  Have a great day and thanks for visiting my blog!Copy Weee

Holiday Collection

copy fall snowThat time is nearing, the holidays!  I am beginning to work on my snowman collection.  I will be placing most of these pieces in the two galleries that represent my work locally.  Hoping for an opportunity to place some of my pieces in another shop outside of my home city.  I am working on some pieces to submit for review.  Keeping my fingers crossed that they will like my work.  Another venue for people to see my art.  It’s a constant effort putting myself out there but so worth it.  I will be posting more of my snowman collection as I finish the pieces.  Have a great day everyone!

Thanks for visiting my blog!

Aspens

These two pieces completed and hanging in my living space.  Inspired from a recent trip with my husband to Glacier National Park.  The landscape of the park is bursting forth copy aspenswith aspens, a favorite tree of mine.  These two pieces, wrapped with burlap, created  with 10 layers of acrylics, recycled papers, and pen.  I added a magpie as well and a heart on one of the trunks with my husbands and mine initials (okay, a little personal touch since the pieces will stay in my home and not for sale).   I love nature and being outdoors brings me so much joy and peace.  Having this in my living space will always remind me of our special trip, time nurturing our souls and preparing for the changing of the seasons soon.

Thank you for visiting my blog…enjoy the beauty surrounding us!

Buttons and Tweed

This painting I just finished last week and gifted it to my wonderfully talented daughter.  She launched her handmade specialty bag business in 2013 called Buttons and Tweed.  The bag business along with everything else happening in her life; moving closer to us (which we love!), she started a new position in her career and just purchased a new condo!  The painting is for her home studio.  We are so very proud of all she has accomplished in the last nine months.copy tweed        Please visit her Buttons and Tweed blog and her facebook as well.  Her bags are presently represented in a local gallery as well as her nearly ready to go Etsy Shop.  Can you tell I’m pleased with it all…love her!

Finished Bigger!

Completed my Cityscape and photographed it outside this morning.  I like photographing my art outside because the light is so much better.  Feels good to have this bigger piece finished.  It’s hanging presently in my dining room as I just wanted to look at it for a bit, decided to probably sell it.  I’ve purchased some larger canvases and boards to continue creating on larger surfaces.

Have a great Sunday everyone and thanks for visiting my blog!

?????????????????????

Bigger!

This piece is larger than I’ve worked on in the past.  I’m feeling a need to push myself towards a larger space to fill.  This piece is in the finishing stages but has a bit more detail to give it the appearance I try to create in my art.  My last post was of a house as well.  Wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that I’ve been stuck inside for the last couple weeks because of the heat!  Must be summer cabin fever!!

Thanks for visiting my blog everyone!  Have a great Friday and stay cool!IMG_0774
