Dessert Time!

IMG_6162

I had this background canvas completed for awhile..it’s been staring at me!  I had covered the bright colors with a dark glaze…it reminded me of chocolate today.  Must have been craving chocolate.  Decided to do a cupcake painting so I added the papers, acrylic paints with some accents and words…”finding two good reasons to do something…chocolate and chocolate”.   Trying to decide if I’d like to keep it for a birthday gift or sell it in the gallery or my etsy shop.

Have a sweet day and eat some chocolate for no reason whatsoever but just to enjoy!!

Possible Workshop

IMG_6096Needed a journal for my business notes and decided to explore the artist side of journals  again.  I’ve created journals for friends in the past for gifts but never for myself.  This little owl hopefully will bring some wisdom when needed!  It definitely was a fun project.  I’m considering it as a workshop for April or May!

Have a wise and wonderful day everyone!

Thanks for visiting my blog!

House

IMG_5693Just finished a new painting.  I’ve been working on a 30 ~ piece collection of small works for an event in April.  I submitted three pieces for judging and will find out in February if I am in…hoping!!  The earlier post of the cow is one of the pieces as well.  I’ve spent so much time in the studio and have neglected my blog so I do apologize!  I just learned how to do watermarks.  Although, from everything I’ve read those who want to copy your art still can get around it…what to do 🙂  Thanks for visiting everyone…I’ll be back at it tomorrow.

Flying into 2013

IMG_5598This sweet little feathered friend completed this afternoon.  Working towards getting a collection together of small pieces for future sales.  These will be on  the 6 x 6  canvas with thicker 1 inch sides.  Since I’ve setup my Facebook page my art has received a bit more interest.  Would be a dream to have more sales in 2013!   In August I placed several pieces in the little gallery, six have sold.  Feel good about that but know that I need some improvement on my creative side and much improvement on the business side.  It’s overwhelming at times, so thankful that I don’t feel the need to rush anything!  I admire those who have bravely placed their art on Etsy.  One day hopefully!!

Thank you for visiting my blog.  Have a joyfully creative day!

Changed My Mind

IMG_5449Just had to put some color back into this piece.  I sanded back to the first layer of the tulip blossoms, which was a bit brighter.  Added a few more shades of green and some detail to the tulips.  Feels better as I just was not completely satisfied with the first attempt.

Nourishment for the Soul

IMG_5389This piece just finished and sitting in my kitchen.  I’ve become a bit attached to it being a coffee lover plus the quote is presently on my chalkboard in my art studio.  It reads:

Nourish yourself every day with the wonderful things that life has to offer you

I tried a crackle effect on the cup but it didn’t work as I had hoped.  In the end I liked how it dried and rubbed over it with a silver glaze.  The crackle medium gave it a rough texture which I like.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Let your heart sing and your creative side shine into 2013.

Soaring into the holidays!

IMG_5302Finally soared into some creative time in the studio.  This little, sweet friendly songbird will be heading to the gallery in the next few days.  I made the songbird  entirely of confetti from my stash of papers.  I’m in love with this little fellow who gave me the boost I needed.  I fell ill after my workshop at the beginning of December and had not been in my art studio for over two weeks.

Here’s the truth: People who get what they want tend to be the ones who make the effort to know what they want.

Veil of Peacefulness

A veil of peacefulness has entered my art studio in the last two days.  I’ve been able to conquer the fear, chase it away and complete my still life painting.  It feels so wonderful to sit back and view the still life.  This challenge behind me I may have to celebrate with a nice glass of wine, sit in the studio and simply enjoy!

This is the quote in the painting:

Choice of attention – to pay attention to this and ignore that – is to the inner life what choices of action is to the outer.  In both cases, a man is responsible for his choice and must accept the consequences.      – W. H. Auden –

Have a wonderful, peaceful day!
