Hearts with Wings

IMG_6425This piece changed my thinking on perfection!!  I used several different textures of paper on the background.  When I began to paint the girl the papers absorbed the acrylics and watercolours, creating some imperfections.  I left it overnight and returned to work it over today.  After looking at it I realized I didn’t want to change it but rather felt like embracing imperfection…which is a stretch sometimes for me!  I’m feeling like my inner self is finally beginning to let go of some of the restrictions I place on myself.

Spring Canary

My latest artwork, little yellow canary, titled Spring Canary.  Posted it on my Facebook page and it has sold.  Makes me smile as I’ve worked so hard on getting my Etsy Shop up and running.  My Etsy Shop is under greengrassart.  I’ve posted ten items for sale so far.  Realizing how many artists are on Etsy, I’m not sure how all of that will develop but I wanted to give it a go.  The canary painting was not posted on Etsy.  I was able to link my Etsy Shop to my Facebook page.  I spent hours setting up the Etsy Shop.  I am so amazed at what some artist are achieving, not sure how they do it but admire all their hard work and effort!  This little canary  inspired by my beautiful little canary that has since flown to bird heaven but was so, so loved by our family!  The words on the painting…”Whispering colors of spring”…and I am really looking forward to spring!

Pause

I’ve decided to pause for a bit with this  painting I am currently working on.  I feel as if it is coming along well.  I simply don’t want to screw it up!  Having thought about the possibility of not being able to complete the piece because I’m feeling that fear is upsetting me.  I want to be able to paint without fear as once that creeps into my space it invades my creative spirit.  Having mixed emotions it is best to step back and allow myself to pause.  I don’t need the pressure to complete the piece…time to pause.
