From my art journal

Looking back at some of my art journal entries.  This one stood out today as I reflect on this journey with my art.  The words in this sketch are… never leave your dreams behind.  At times our dreams become postponed until our life is ready to seek the path to fulfill them.  I do feel so blessed that I have been able to follow my heart and create art…allowing one of my dreams to become reality.  I sometimes question where it will lead me but then I stop myself realizing, be mindful and live in this moment, not worrying about what tomorrow will bring.

Wishing your dreams come true!

Buttons and Tweed

This painting I just finished last week and gifted it to my wonderfully talented daughter.  She launched her handmade specialty bag business in 2013 called Buttons and Tweed.  The bag business along with everything else happening in her life; moving closer to us (which we love!), she started a new position in her career and just purchased a new condo!  The painting is for her home studio.  We are so very proud of all she has accomplished in the last nine months.copy tweed        Please visit her Buttons and Tweed blog and her facebook as well.  Her bags are presently represented in a local gallery as well as her nearly ready to go Etsy Shop.  Can you tell I’m pleased with it all…love her!

Dessert Time!

I had this background canvas completed for awhile..it’s been staring at me!  I had covered the bright colors with a dark glaze…it reminded me of chocolate today.  Must have been craving chocolate.  Decided to do a cupcake painting so I added the papers, acrylic paints with some accents and words…”finding two good reasons to do something…chocolate and chocolate”.   Trying to decide if I’d like to keep it for a birthday gift or sell it in the gallery or my etsy shop.

Have a sweet day and eat some chocolate for no reason whatsoever but just to enjoy!!

Studio Time

IMG_5559A new year, a new feel in the studio.

This wonderful mantle has been in our family for years.  I received the honor of having it in my home when my mother passed away.  Placing it in my studio gives me creative inspiration and, well, a great place to display some of my art!  It’s a daily reminder of my mom who continually supported my efforts.  I keep her close to my heart with wonderful memories.   She consistently requested The Green Green Grass of Home when I would play the piano for her.  When I was thinking about a name for my blog to represent my art, well, I didn’t have to think terribly long as Green Grass Art popped into my mind almost immediately.  It’s been a bit over a year since I began this journey with my blog.  Many wonderful events have happened.  I feel so blessed and I know me-mom is smiling!

Wishing all of you a creative and uplifting year of 2013.

Additions

Added the heart with words to my latest angel piece.Like it much better…feels complete.

Finished the heart painting below and have one more heart themed piece I am working on finishing soon.

I must be into hearts lately…must be an emotional time for me!

Hark!

Back at it in the studio.  I’ve been working on some new pieces the last two days.  Completed this little angel with a heart.  Trying to decide if I should place a quote or title.  I keep looking at her feeling like something just isn’t quite the way I’d like it to appear.  Lately, my expectations seem to have changed as I’m struggling a bit.

Breathing in, I calm my body.

Breathing out, I smile.

Dwelling in the present moment,

I know this is a wonderful moment.

Mini Canvas

Just finished this mini canvas and easel.  Next Friday is the open house at the gallery.  This will be my donation for one of the door prizes for the event.

Hoping several friends and family are able to attend.  It will be a fun evening and my first event to show my art pieces.

Thank you everyone for your amazing support over the last year.  I am so blessed.
