Domestic Violence

A donation to our local YWCA for their annual fundraiser.  This organization is a huge part of our community.  I believe in their work and respect all they do to help families who suffer domestic violence.  They support families in so many ways.  I worked in their childcare program for several months, witnessing their commitment to our community first hand.  This such a small way for me to help.  Wishing for a successful fundraiser with loads of dollars raised for this important community organization!copy dream girl

Happy Hangers

Completing three Happy Hangers.  These three will be heading over to the gallery tomorrow for the Holiday Open House on Friday.  I waited until the last-minute and will be working this evening on the last touches of the other two.  Hope your evening is full of creativity.   I’ll enjoy finishing these pieces.

From my art journal

Looking back at some of my art journal entries.  This one stood out today as I reflect on this journey with my art.  The words in this sketch are… never leave your dreams behind.  At times our dreams become postponed until our life is ready to seek the path to fulfill them.  I do feel so blessed that I have been able to follow my heart and create art…allowing one of my dreams to become reality.  I sometimes question where it will lead me but then I stop myself realizing, be mindful and live in this moment, not worrying about what tomorrow will bring.

Wishing your dreams come true!

My heart is singing!

I’ve stared for a couple of days at these four canvases with backgrounds finished.  A bit of creative spirit rose early today!  With my coffee in hand I spent the morning in my home studio.  Three years ago my Mom passed away, the last couple days I’ve not been able to stop the memories swirling in my mind.  This piece reflects some of what I’ve felt and simply some of what I love in art.  I’ve always enjoyed painting hearts with wings.  When I began the piece I thought it was just another subject that I enjoy.  After finishing the piece it felt more like my Mom earned her well deserved wings and was singing her way into heaven!  It always intrigue’s me, the thought process of my art.  When I do a background I never know what I will paint on the canvas, what message I want to get across…most often than not, it is best for me to just let it flow!  Enjoy each day.  Find your wings and soar with a song in your heart.  Make your dreams come true!
