A donation to our local YWCA for their annual fundraiser. This organization is a huge part of our community. I believe in their work and respect all they do to help families who suffer domestic violence. They support families in so many ways. I worked in their childcare program for several months, witnessing their commitment to our community first hand. This such a small way for me to help. Wishing for a successful fundraiser with loads of dollars raised for this important community organization!

Fearless
Just completed a new piece I’ve titled Fearless. This is a 16 x 16 mixed-media art piece created with recycled papers, rusty metal finds as the buttons, acrylics, pen, watercolor pencil and some oil pastels. All the things I love to work with!! I am truly fond of this piece because of the bright colors. I do love color.

From my art journal
Looking back at some of my art journal entries. This one stood out today as I reflect on this journey with my art. The words in this sketch are… never leave your dreams behind. At times our dreams become postponed until our life is ready to seek the path to fulfill them. I do feel so blessed that I have been able to follow my heart and create art…allowing one of my dreams to become reality. I sometimes question where it will lead me but then I stop myself realizing, be mindful and live in this moment, not worrying about what tomorrow will bring.

Angel Commission
This piece is one of three commissioned works I just completed and delivered. The Angel in particular is special to the buyer. It was a piece that I felt deeply about as all the elements she wanted in the piece just flowed together…it is comforting to me when the piece is so well received as the buyer became emotional when she opened it. This is one of many reasons I do art. When a buyer loves the piece it makes my world rock!!
Sweet Girl
A new piece for my Collection of Girls. Hot outside so I’ve retreated to my art studio the last couple days. Love being outdoors but finishing this piece really felt good! This piece is for sale. The words are “Before the rising sun, we fly; so many roads to choose”. Starting two smaller pieces as well and will post when completed.

Dream…new girl
Dream is on card stock and I am printing her out in card form presently. She will be joining my other pieces from my Collection of Girls…one day, no doubt, on a canvas.

Hearts with Wings
This piece changed my thinking on perfection!! I used several different textures of paper on the background. When I began to paint the girl the papers absorbed the acrylics and watercolours, creating some imperfections. I left it overnight and returned to work it over today. After looking at it I realized I didn’t want to change it but rather felt like embracing imperfection…which is a stretch sometimes for me! I’m feeling like my inner self is finally beginning to let go of some of the restrictions I place on myself.

Flora..new girl
This is my latest for my girl collection. Painted on a wood surface and not a canvas. It was fun experimenting with something new. I did her background with various recycled papers. I am in the process of starting an Etsy shop and will be setting that up this weekend. Hoping to sell some of my art. I feel like I’ve neglected my blog for several weeks, need to start posting again! I’ve been busy with getting art finished for my Etsy shop and have posted some on my Facebook page. I will be trying to link all my sites together…I’m not the best when it comes to the internet but my daughter will be helping me…we are calling it the Etsy Party Weekend!! Have a great day everyone!!

Westward into the New Year!
Working on my cowgirl piece. Still have a bit more to finish on the face with shading and blending. I’d like to find a western themed quote of some sort to place as well. It’s on a flat canvas board which I inherited from my Dad’s art supplies so I placed the piece in this frame. Needed to step away and look at it for a few days. I will post it when I’ve completed it. Tomorrow is a day to spend with a wonderful girlfriend so will be out of the studio for a break. Tuesday will be spent with family for our New Year celebration but may find myself in the studio if time allows.

Hark!
Back at it in the studio. I’ve been working on some new pieces the last two days. Completed this little angel with a heart. Trying to decide if I should place a quote or title. I keep looking at her feeling like something just isn’t quite the way I’d like it to appear. Lately, my expectations seem to have changed as I’m struggling a bit.
Breathing in, I calm my body.
